Richmond win school Cricket Sixes


Richmond College, Galle won the Inter-School cricket sixes today in Colombo defeating St. Peter’s by 32 runs in the final.
Richmond qualified for the quarter finals defeating defending champions St Joseph’s in the third round.

Richmond crushed Prince of Wales in the quarter finals and thrashed Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa by 79 runs in the semi finals.
Though Richmond were dominant in the run-up their final opponents St. Peter’s had some anxious moments against hosts Wesley with a final ball victory before overcoming Royal Panadura in the semi final.

Richmond’s Yasoda Lanka was the star of the tournament bagging three main awards which were for the best batsman, most number of sixes and the man of the tournament.

Richmond skipper Dananjaya de Silva took the man of the final prize while Richmond also took the award for the most disciplined side of the tournament to sweep the boards.

Royal spinner Kavindu Ashan who had the honour of taking the first ever hat-trick in the history of tournament which he achieved against DSS was rewarded with the best bowlers’ prize while Lahiru Jayaratne of St Peter’s was adjudged the best fielder.
