Inter School Under-15 Division 1 cricket tournament

Richmond College - St.Josephs College, declared joint champs

St. Joseph’s College, Maradana and Richmond College, Galle were declared joint champions  of the Inter School Under-15 Division I cricket tournament, after the two-weeks delayed final was called off without a ball being bowled due to rain at CCC grounds, 28th September.
The Under-15 tournament secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association said that the decision to declare the two teams as joint champions was taken according to the rules and regulations of the tournament. "In a no decision situation in a final, the two teams are declared joint champions. There is no clause for a reserve day if the match was not played due to rain or other reasons, the Under-15 tournament secretary further said

It was a disapointing   day for all those who gathered  at CCC ground to witness a thrilling climax to the tournament. Over 500  Richmond cricket supporters including the principal, vice principal, students, teachers, old boys, parents and well wishers were present at CCC yesterday. Strong Richmond team was the firm favourites to win the title. Richmond opponents  seemed rather happy staying in the dressing room and share the title at the end of the day.
